23rd SEA Games: A personal Expreience
I consider myself very lucky to cover the opening ceremony yesterday. I was at the press section together with the Thai media team waiting for the events to unfold.
At 4:30 PM, an hour before the start of the program, the Globe Innove Chorale set the mood by rendering several songs. At around 5PM, VIPs and foreign dignitaries started to arrive and occipied the VIP section. Aside from dignitaries of the Southeast Asian countries, Ambassadors from other countries were also present. I saw guests from Sri Lanka, Italy and Mongolia during the ceremonies.
Just before the broadcast started, an inter-faith prayer ceremony was held. Prayers were lead by various reliougs leaders of Catholic, Islam, Iglesia ni Cristo and Buddhist faith.
I felt so emotional when I saw the giant flag of the Philippines entering the stage, and when the national anthem was played by thr San Miguel Philharmonic Orchestra.
The performance was great. I was one of a kind. The musical scoring used was originally composed by maestro Ryan Cayabyab for the Games.
The 23rd Southeast Asian Games was formally opened last last. No less than Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declared the Games open.

President Arroyo arriving Tuesday in Bacolod to cheer RP athletes
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is set to arrive in Bacolod City on Tuesday to cheer on the Filipino athletes participating in the South East Asian Games, Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella said yesterday.
Puentevella said the President may also meet with Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra during her visit.
Puentevella said the President, on her arrival will have lunch with sports officials of the participating countries in the SEA Games and Negros Occidental officials, and will cheer Philippine volleyball and boxing athletes.
If she decides to stay overnight she may also watch the football match between the Philippines and Malaysia at the Panaad Park and Stadium at 5 p.m. on Nov. 29, he added.
Puentevella said the President is taking a hands-on policy on the SEA Games and is very concerned about security measures for the visiting athletes and dignitaries.
The solon met with the President Tuesday to brief her of the progress of the Bacolod SEA Games and will meet with her again today.
Groups calling for the resignation of the president are threatening to stage protests during her Bacolod visit to the SEA Games.

The first Philippine loss happened yesterday when the Philippine water polo team lost to Singapore. Both teams were on deadlock until the last minute when a Singaporean player made the final goal to give them a 7-6 win. The team will be fighting out against Thailand tonight at 6:30PM at Trace Aquatic Center in Los Ba?os, Laguna.
On the other hand, the highly-fancied Philippine football team will have their first game today against the defending champion Thailand at the Panaad Sports Stadium in Bacolod City

SEA Games fixed?
It’s 5 days to go before the grand opening ceremonies of the 23rd South East Asian Games. And yet there are still talks that the medals have already been allocated to ensure the top finish of our country.
