Sunset at Alubihod
On the western side of the island of Guimaras lies a place called Alubihod. Alubihod has one of the finest beaches in Guimaras. The sand is white, and the water aquamarine. Island hopping and snorkelling is my usual activity when I’m in the place. This has been a secret paradise for me since there are only a handful tourists who knew this place. Until recently, I was surprised to see that the place was teemed with Koreans, and other local tourists as well.
To go to Alubihod, from Manila: Take a MNL-ILO flight approx 45 minutes, or MNL-ILO by ship approx 12-18 hours. From Iloilo, take the motorized outrigger (banca) from boat station, located just beside the University of Iloilo. This bance will bring you to Jordan, the capital of Guimaras. From Jordan wharf, take a jeepney plying the route of “Nueva Valencia”. Tell the driver that you are going to Alubihod. The driver will be dropping you at a crossing, from there take a tricycle and tell the tricycle driver to take you to Alubihod.
