Project: Mindanao
It has been a long time dream of mine to go to Mindanao. I have never set foot to this place. I’ve never been to the beautiful beaches of Samal. I’ve never seen the colorful vintas sailing in Zamboanga, or to the Durian plantations in Davao.
I have never seen how the Mandaya people live in their community; I have never seen the Manobo people celebrate life.
I have never seen Filipino Christians living in a Muslim land.
Mindanao, for me is a mystical place. Full of charm that has not yet been completely revealed. A place that is very rich is traditions and cultural heritage. Mindanao is a chest full of wealth.
There are lot of reasons why I wanted to go to Mindanao, among them:
- I would like to know how Christians live in a land, we (people from Luzon and Visayas) call the Land of Muslims
- I would like to take away all the prejudices i have against the Muslims
- I would love to take photographs of the beautiful sctructures, sceneries and the sweeping landscape of Mindanao.
I have been in contact with several friends in Mindanao to help me fulfill this once in a lifetime dream. I’ve also started drafting my itinerary. When do I plan to do this?
Uhuh.. too early to tell…
