Molo Church: The Feminist Church of Visayas
The Molo District of Iloilo City is a former Chinese enclave. Originally called Parian, Molo is home to one of the country’s feminist Catholic churches. It is just one of the few churches in the country where the patron saint is a female.

Its patron saint is St. Anne, or Santa Ana to the locals.
The church is a blend of Gothic and Rennaisance architecture. It’s interior is funadametally Renaissance, with all its elaborate decor. While it’s exteriors are Gothic-inspired.

Along the aisle of the church stands sixteen life-sized female saint images.
The present Molo Church was constructed in 1869, and has withstood countless earthquakes, typhoons, and wars.

St. Anne Church is a 10-minute jeepney ride from the Iloilo City proper. There are daily boat trips and airline flights from Manila to Iloilo, and vice versa. There are also hourly ferry trips from Iloilo to Bacolod, and vice versa.
