SEA Games goes to Thailand

The 2007 edition of the South East Asian (SEA) Games will be hled in the elephant country of Thailand. Several Thai newspapers have already confirmed that next year’s sports spectacle will be held in the the province of Nakhon Ratchasima or popularly known as Korat.

Majority of the events, as well as the opening and closing ceremonies will be held in Korat. While a number of other sporting events will also be held in the capital city of Bangkok. All aquatic events will be held in the province of Udon Thani.

Nakhon Ratchasina is approximately 260 kilometers, and is a 4-hour drive north of Bangkok. While Udon Thani is abour 546 kilometers from Bangkok. Both Nakhon Ratchasima and Udon Thani provinces are located on the northeast section of Thailand.

On the other hand, Cambodia has withdrwan its hosting responsibilty for the 2011 edition of the Games. Singapore is currently bidding to host the event on the said year.
