Aborted Pahiyas Escapade

Posted on May 15, 2006

I was supposed to go to Lucban, Quezon Province today for the annual Pahiyas Festival in honor of St. Isidore the farmer.

The town of Lucban is known for their colorful fiesta, where houses will be adorned with edible decors they call kiping. Aside from seing these colorful decorations, we also planned to have a food trip and taste the best of Lucban like the pacit habhab and the Longganisang Lucban.

But Lo and Behold…my request for vacation leave was denied!

And just to fulfill my urge to travel and taste the flavors of Lucban, Last night, I went to a resto along Kalayaan Avenue, Makati City. The name of the resto? Buddy’s. The restaurant’s specialty is pancit Lucban, Pancit Chami, and ever-famous Longganisang Lucban. Their sisig is also a must-try!

Colorful kipings adorned the ceilings of Buddy’s Restaurant

Aside from the delicious foods, the restaurant has also decorated their interiors with kipings. Letting you feel the ambience of Pahiyas Festival, without even leaving the city of Makati.

I was in Lucban yesterday! Amazing Festival again !
Alas I wasn’t able to see how they prepare the kiping. I would have loved to document this.
It is a yearly Festival so plenty of time to catch it next year!
