Another proud moment for the Filipino nation

Posted on May 18, 2006

And the Philippine Eagle has landed…

These were the words of Leo Oracion as he spoke to DOTC Secretary Arturo Valdez over a radio as he reached the rooftop of the world.

Yes folks, Leo, has already reached the summit of Mt. Everest! He reached the top at around 5:30PM Manila (GMT+8), 3:30 PM Nepal Time. For the first time our Philippine flag was hoisted in Mt Everest. This may be seen by others as just “another climb“, but for us this is different. This is special.

This only proves that our mountain climbers are world-class and at par with other international climbers.

Leo, along with 3 other climbers are the epitome of what a real Filipino is: courageous, hard-working, and very much dedicated to what they’re doing.

Let this achievement be our inspiration. To work hard and finally conquer our own Mt. Everest.

Mabuhay kayong mga nasa Everest ngayon, at Mabuhay ang bansang Pilipinas!

Moments like this make me proud. That’ll erase the “Most number of Breastfeeding Mothers”, “Lovapalooza” and “Mopst # of Kids Brushing” world records out of mymemory. :P
