Philippine Festivals Showdown, round two.

FOR those who have missed the showdown of the country’ best festivals at the Aliwan Fiesta 2006, here is your second chance to see them again perform LIVE!

Get to see the country's best festivals perform again!

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) has selected five festivals to perform during the 108th celebration of the Philippine Independence Day on June 12.

Among those who will perform are Aliwan Festival 1st runner-up Dinagyang Festival of Iloilo City; 2nd runner up Pintados de Passi, of Passi City, Province of Iloilo; 3rd runner up Halad Festival of Pigcawayan, North Cotabato; 4th runner up Kahilwayan Festival of Sta. Barbara, Province of Iloilo; and 5th runner up Pamulinawen Festival of Laoag, Ilocos Norte.

The Aliwan Festival 2006 Grand Champion, Tribu Lumad Basakanon of Cebu City’s Sinulog Festival has begged off from the invitation due to a prior comitment in Dipolog City.

The event will be held on June 12 at the Quirino Grandstand.

    Hindi ito contest pero tatlo sa Iloilo contingents ang invited sa Independence Day, that means that Iloilo festivals are simply the best at inaabangan.

    hey mega, june 10 take off sang Ilonganon hir sa iloilo… thanks for keeping updated on whats hot and whats not in the Aliwan fest hehehe.. comments are just comments..but you know..desctructive comments which are fictitious are not good…those who are not in favor of our Ilonganon tribe..kindly keep those nasty comments all by self…bad yun lols

    good day…We are very happy that there will be a second round of aliwan Festival this coming June 12, 2006. Our school is looking forward to watch this one of a kind major event.

    sorry as far as i know eh…. PERSONAL PICK ng CCP ang ininvyt nila for d celeb.. and in fact d naman yata tutugma ung sayaw ng SINULOG sa THEME ng INDEPENDENCE DAY which is KAGALINGAN NG PINOY!!! hahaha

    yah.its great to have a festival..but lets not forget that were having a festival because it serves as a thank you for the patron and not just to have fun and festival is not just eating and drinking and enjoying…okey?think about it!!!

    mga taga ilo-ilo.. mag handa na kayo para sa aliwan.. di namin ibibigay sa n u and 1st place.. -lumad basakanon- sinulog

    Lumad basaknon palitan nyo muna style niyo bago kayo maghamon. Recycled naman ang performance niyo e. tandaan niyo ang mga judges sa aliwan sila pa rin dati. mga taga ccp at ncca mga yan bihasa sa performing arts hindi niyo sila madaya alam nila kung paulit-ulit ang performance ng mga contingent. ang mga judges ang hinahanap nila BAGONG CONCEPT, hindi yan tulad sa sinulog sa cebu na ang mga judges ay taga cebu din na kahit sampung taon niyo ulit-ulitin ang choreography ninyo pwede.
    Iba ang labanan sa national competition hindi taga cebu ang judges galing sila sa iba’t-ibang lugar.
    Hindi ako nakipagtalo sa inyo, experience ko lang yan sa mga previous staging ng aliwan.

    alam ng dinagyang ang laro sa aliwan wag kayo pasisiguro!
