A lake within a volcano within a lake

Posted on June 1, 2006

Yup, that’s how many folks describe this miniature wonder south of Manila. Taal is one of the world’s smalles (if not the smallest) volcanoes in the world.

Taal Volcano

The volcano can be reached by outrigger boat from any of the seven towns of Batangas and Cavite.

One of the best locations to see this majestic volcano is Tagaytay City. Approximately, an hour’s drive south of Manila.

To reach the creater of the volcano, one must ride a horse, or trek for about 2 hours.

Actually some studies say that the lake itself is also a crater. So that’s like a volcano within a volcano. Astig!

Our house in Phili, which is in Santa Rosa, is just 30 minutes drive from Tagaytay. :D We go there a lot. Taal’s really fascinating. I’d love to get to the crater someday.
