Avilon Zoo Unforgettable Escapade

last in a series

Avilon ZooThis is a continuation of my previous post. Gie and I toured the entire Montalban paradise for about two hours. We were very much amazed at the vast collections of the animals. There’s the Malayan Tapir, Ostriches, Flamingo, Crocs, urang utan, spotted deers, pony, lion, tiger, and a whole lot more.

It was a tiring day for us, knowing that we haven’t had any sleep yet.

Avilon ZooAnother interesting section of the zoo where we really enjoyed most is the pond full of humungous Arapaima. When I said humongous, I meant H-U-M-O-N-G-O-U-S! Grabe kasing laki na sila ng hita ko! You can buy 3 chicken heads for 10 pesos from a friendly staff and feed them to these fishes. See how they fight against each other for that small chicken head. Be careful though, you might get wet when these fishes attempts to jump to get their meal. Arapaima is a close relative of the Arrowana. For those who do not know what an arrowana is, it is the favorite pet of the Chinese folks, believing that this (the fish) brings good luck.

If you have been to Meralco Ortigas Center, You may also get to see a very large arapaima there.

Avilon ZooBut the most unforgettable moment happened when I was aiming my camera in front of the Siberian Tiger. Darn, its coat looks really beautiful and clean. But this feline looks angry though. Parang ayaw pakuha ng picture. It keeps on walking back and forth. Parang taong hindi mapakali. Then suddenly it turned its back on me. Gee, what a great angle. Only the tiger’s behind is visible. What a rare moment. So then focused my camera and….

Splash… there goes out the urine

The tiger almost peed on me! Muntik na ako maihian! Good thing I still have a quick reflex to jump away from its trajectory. Gie was laughing hard at me.

And out of phobia, I did’t took any photo of the other cats, like the puma, bengal tiger, and other. Baka maihian ako ulit. I did take a photo of the lion though, kasi malayo sya.

Lesson learned: Never take a photo of the tiger from behind.
