Masskara Festival 2006 Official Music

I finally got my copy of the 2006 Masskara Festival Official Streetdance Music. One month before the festival itself! Haha I am very very excited to go to Bacolod this coming October!
This year’s Masskara Music is entitled “Bacolod, Siguehon ta!” The man behind this year’s Masskara Festival Music is Gerry Grey. He is also the one who composed other Masskara music like the 2004 and 2005 “Sige lang Sige na, Bacolod Bato Kita” and the Masskara 2000 “Yuhum Yuhum”.
“Bacolod Siguehon Ta” is a blend of dance beats from Chinese, Indian, African, South American, and Latin music. the vocals incorporate styles from pop music to rap. The music is 7 minutes and 30 seconds long.

Migo Eric, this year’s Masskara siguro ang pinaka bongga sa lahat, august pa lang grabe na ang preperation ng mga taga bacolod, ang dami ng masskara streamers ang kumalat at meron pang mga pre masskara events.

The music is more slow compare before, sounds like chinese music, a true mardigras music is not like this, bat di nyo ibalik ang dating music like volare, lambada and etc…. ang sagwa ng music……ang ending naging rock music, ano ba yan…..
the best masskara festival i’d ever seen, it was 1988, 1990, 1991-92…. purely mardigrass gid ya, last 2004-2005, we came home from London to watch the masskara, pero mas maganda ang noon kaysa ngayon…. infairness….. and thats the truth… sa music palang sasayaw kana nun… pero totoo yung sinasabi ko…..

if u noticed last year’s music was created using the Asian musical instruments because the of the upcoming SEA Games at that time. Bacolod was one of the co-host of the SEA Games.
this year, having so much progress and development and bacolod, bacolod this year used the theme, masks of the world. If youll notice the music it is a blend of arab, chinese, african, latin and modern beats.
and IMHO, masskara should not imitate the brazilian mardi gras. masskara should have an image of its own. and a character of its own. it should be unique from other festivals.
