Masskara Festival 2006 Official Music

I finally got my copy of the 2006 Masskara Festival Official Streetdance Music. One month before the festival itself! Haha I am very very excited to go to Bacolod this coming October!

This year’s Masskara Music is entitled “Bacolod, Siguehon ta!” The man behind this year’s Masskara Festival Music is Gerry Grey. He is also the one who composed other Masskara music like the 2004 and 2005 “Sige lang Sige na, Bacolod Bato Kita” and the Masskara 2000 “Yuhum Yuhum”.

“Bacolod Siguehon Ta” is a blend of dance beats from Chinese, Indian, African, South American, and Latin music. the vocals incorporate styles from pop music to rap. The music is 7 minutes and 30 seconds long.

Fulfilling a young boy’s wish

He’s young, and cute. His name is Pyro, At 3 years old, it’s so sad to know that he has been fighting against the Big C.

And like any other normal kids, Pyro also has his favorites and wishes in life. One of his favorite pastime is to watch wrestling in TV. And since Smackdown wrestlers will be in Manila this coming October for another round of wrestling matches, several concerned individuals have been doing campaigns just to fulfill the dream of Pyro: to meet his favorite Filipino wrestler superhero Batista.

Pyro’s aunt has documented his ordeals in a blog called “In Times of Pain.”

If you know somebody who can help in fulfilling this young boy’s dreams, that would be greatly appeciated.

Masskara Festival 2006 Schedule

Kari na sa Bacolod, magdala sang maskara, kag magsinadya kita! (Come to Bacolod, bring your masks, and we’ll have some fun!)

Bacolod Masskara FestivalThis is the usual chant that you can hear from the Ilonggo people of Bacolod City, Philippines. Talk about parties and they know how to do it, Ilonggo-style. Streets will be closed for vehicles, large boomboxes will be placed on the streets. Non-stop dancing day in and day out. On the other end of the street is a wide array of foods and booze, while on the other end of line is the fairground and carnival for the young and young-at-hearts.

And who doesn’t love the Masskara Festival?

The Philippines’s most colorful festival is set to take centerstage once again on October 20-22, 2006 during the three-day street-dancing competitions. Aside from these, there are also other activities lined up until the grand highlights of the festival.
