Almost every city in the Philippines has its own signature food. Vigan, for example is known for its longganisa (sausage), and empanada. Bacolod is known for its inasal (grilled chicken), Cebu is known for its dried mangoes. Laguna is known for its buko pie.
And for Iloilo City? It’s the La Paz Batchoy.

This steamy hot soup is made up of egg noodles, bits and pieces of pork, chicharon, egg, liver, garlic and a lot more.
This delicacy started in Iloilo City’s district called “La Paz.” One of the best La Paz Batchoy is served in Ted’s old-timer Lapaz Batchoy. Their main store is located in Iloilo City, but has now branched out to other cities, like Bacolod, Kalibo, Davao, Roxas, Cavite, General Santos, Koronadal and Metro Manila.
Batchoy,a soup that started its humble beginnings in the district of La Paz, but has now gained recognition because of its warm and delicious taste.
