Just a few weeks ago, the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation has launched the Dinagyang Festival 2007. The launching was held during the Western Visayas Tourism Festival in Iloilo City. The organizers promised a more bigger and more exciting Dinagyang Festival this coming January by giving out one million pesos for the grand prize winner. The highlights of the festival will be on January 27-28, 2007.

One of the symbols of Iloilo is the Arroyo Fountain. This waterfountain also serves as the Kilometer Zero for the island of Panay. The Arroyo Fountain was built in honor of the late Ilonggo Senator Jose Maria Arroyo, grandfather of First Gentleman Mike Arroyo.
The fountain features four graceful women carrying a large basin over their head. This magnificent structure is located just in front of the old provincial Capitol of Iloilo.
One of the symbols of Negros Occidental is the the carabao sculpture being pulled by a man. This gold-painted sculpture is mounted on the sounthern end of the Provincial Capitol Lagoon. Another carabao sculpture, being pulled by a woman, guards the northern section of the lagoon.
When Emilio Aguinaldo declared the Philippine Independence in Kawit Cavite, little did we know that the Filipinos in the island of Panay are still fighting out with the Spaniards.
