Zamboanga’s Fort Pilar

Posted on December 13, 2006

fort pilar zamboanga

More than a hundred years ago, this fort was built by the colonizers to defend the Zamboanga peninsula from the pirates invading the land. The image of Our Lady of Pillar enshrined in Real Fuerza de Nuestra Señora del Pilar de Zaragosa is said to be miraculous. Hundreds of people would testify to its unexplained wonders. And because of these claims, they have decided to build an open-air altar just outside the walls of the Fort. Masses are also said here during sndays for the Catholic faithful.

hmm, i thought that it was built by the colonizers from the real residence of Mindanao…. not the pirates but the justice keepers of that time, the lumads and the oppressed people against colonizers during that time ….
