Symbol of Faith

Posted on December 15, 2006

In Mindanao, where most of the Muslim population is concentrated, a number of mosques or masjid abound. It is also fascinating to note that each mosque has a spire with a cresent on top. Usually these cresent faces the direction where the Holy City of Mecca or Makkah is located.

The cresent is a symbol of the Muslim faith. Just like the catholics believe in the power of the cross.

And because of religious beliefs, do you know that there’s no such thing as Red Cross in Muslim countries? What they have is the Red Cresent Organization providing humanitarian support for those who are in need.
