Singapore’s Next Top Swimmer
Posted on December 16, 2006
The 15th Asian Games in Doha Qatar has finally come to an end. World records were shattered, new standards has been set, and new champions has been declared. We have seen several great athletes doing the final game of their career, while we have also seen a number of rookies trying to slug it out in this international event, second only to the Olympics. One of the rookies that I am referring to is Bryan Tay of Singapore.
I first saw Bryan during the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Manila last year. If I am not mistaken it was also his first time to see action in this biennial meet. Claiming 2 gold and 2 bronze medals and a new Southeast Asian record for the 4×100 4×200 men’s medley relay is no mean feat.
And just recently, he once again showed us his speed and power in the pool. It was Bryan’s freshman year at the Asiad. And yet he has already shown a lot of potentials. He could be the Singapore’s bemedalled athelete in the SEA Games in Korat next year, or who knows, in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Some more things that you need to know about Bryan Tay
