I have just uploaded some of my photographs from the recently-concluded 35th Paraw Regatta which was held in Iloilo City, Philippines. This regatta is considered to be the oldest sailboat racing in Asia.

San Joaquin is the Iloilo province’s southernmost town. Located 65 kilometers south of Iloilo City. What many people know is that in this sleepy town lies a churched declared by the National Historical Institute as a National Shrine.
The church was constructed using coral stones quarried from the town of Igabras, also in Iloilo. The church’s main feature is the bas relief facade which features the victory of Spain over the Moors of Morocco in the Battle of Tetuan.

Because of its unique face, the San Joaquin Church is also considered as the most Militaristic Church in the Philippines.
It was almost high noon already when my friend Gian and I reached this next destination: the Convent of the Santa Barbara Parish. Some 15 kilometers away from Iloilo City, this centuries-old church and its convent has already been declared by the National Historical Institute as a National Historical Landmark.

The parish of Santa Monica in the town of Pavia, Iloilo was originally constructed by the Agustinian friars. This church, made of red bricks and coral stones is inspired by the Romanesque architecture, evident in the use of its arches. A cross in a Greek-inspired design can also be found in its facade.
