Last weekend I went again to Iloilo for several reasons: The Chinese New Year Celebrations, The 35th Paraw Regatta, and to tour the centuries-old churches and cemeteries in this province.

One of the tourist spots in the island of Mactan, province of Cebu is the marker in memory of the Portuguese Explorer Ferdinand Magellan. According to historians, Magellan was slain by a local chieftain named Lapu-Lapu just a few meters away from this multi-layered obelisk.
