Aliwan Fiesta 2007 Schedule

Posted by Enrico Dee on March 5, 2007

While we are still waiting for the Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC) to release its official schedule of activities and the final list of contingents of this year’s Aliwan Fiesta, check out the videos below of two festivals already confirmed to join this year’s grand event.

The video aobve features the group Lumad Basakanon of Cebu City’s Sinulog Festival. Lumad Basakanon is currently the defending champion in the Aliwan Fiesta. They won last year’s title, beating 27 other festivals and taking home 1 Million Pesos.

The second video features the Tribu Ilonganon of Jalandoni National High School of Iloilo City’s Dinagyang Festival. Tribu Ilonganon has successfully defended its Dinagyang title when it bested 19 other tribes in the ati-ati centest held last January 28. Tribu Ilonganon also participated in last year’s Aliwan Fiesta, winning the first runner-up trophy.

IMO no other festival can match the choreography and synchronized fast-paced movements of Dinagyang as they dance to the intense beating of the drums.

i agree, only dinagyang can prove what “breath taking performance” is all about!

“intense beating of the drums” – kaya nga wala nang music eh. puro noise na lang.

  14. mhel says:

    MyKi,

  15. ddcage says:

it’s my pride to be the FIRST to congratulate the FIRST back-to-back FIRST placer of the aliwan festival 2007…

ISIGAW NATIN SA BUONG MUNDO, MAGALING ANG SINULOG!!!
MAGANDA ANG CEBU!! PUNTAHAN NIYO ANG JUNQUERA MARAMI SARIWA DUN!!!
PADALA NATIN SA BUONG MUNDO ANG LUMAD BASAKANON SOBRA ANG GALING!!!

WALA NG KOKONTRA!! PINO-PROMOTE KO NA KAYO!!

  18. Ronnie says:

I witnessed the Aliwan 2007. Surely, the Sinulog contingent was the best. They were precise, choreography is perfect and entertaining. Although Dinagyang gave a close shot.

I am not a cebuano but from Pasig City.
We must be proud that we have so many festivals in the country.

  19. mhel says:

Every year dinagyang introduces new innovations, compare to other contingent na rotor or recycled ang performance and choreography.

  20. Eragon says:

hmm..wat can i say???ive been here in cebu for a couple of years…but i havent watched sinulog even once….why?pretty damn boring..i wonder why DINAGYANG alwayc catch the 2nd place where in the first place aliwan was patterned to DINAGYANG…grrr…

sige lang!!!next year kita nman ang mabirada!!!hala bira!

  21. tonzi o f iligan city says:

it is only to prove that ALIWAN FESTIVAL is not for DINAGYANG’S GLORY but to the glory of all festivals in the country i hope this one clears the regionalism aspect of the issue…kau kasi parang hari kau kung makapanalo lang ng isa sa ALIWAN. di nyo binibigyan ng credit ung mga hindi nananalo sa festival coz they are part also of the show…ALIWAN showcases all the festivals and not only DINAGYANG or SINULOG…this is for the country. THE COMPETITION IS THERE JST TO MOTIVATE THE PROVINCES TO JOIN THE SHOW coz if no money or prizes, NO ALIWAN, NO SHOW right???

ALIWAN like other festivals, is a production of our country to show the world what the country offers for the whole and what the world can see in it…

  22. Artistiko says:

    Congratulations to:

1st – DINAGYANG FESTIVAL of Iloilo
2nd – MASSKARA FESTIVAL of Bacolod
3rd – PARAW REGATTA of Iloilo
