This marker rests at the foot of the Tobacco Monopoly Monument in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
The Tobacco Monopoly Monument is a significant reminder to Ilocanos as well as to other Filipinos, that once in our history, the Ilocano people were forced to plant nothing, but tobacco. The monument was built as a sign of gratitude to the Crown of Spain for lifting the tobacco monopoly.
