Calamba Church

The church of Calamba, Laguna is dedicated to its patron saint, St. John the Baptist (San Juan Bautista). The church which was made of adobe was built during the 19th century.

On 22 June 1861, one of the country’s most prominent figure was brought to this church to be baptized. Just three days after birth. Philippines’ National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, who was born in Calamba, Laguna was baptized in this church by Fr. Rufino Collantes.

At the front of the church yard are bas reliefs of the stations of the cross surrounded by trees and plants.
