The Church of Immaculate Conception
Posted on April 16, 2007
The fourth church that we visited during the Visita Iglesia was the parish of Immaculate Conception in the town of Los Baños, Laguna.
Based from the write ups I dug in the Internet, the church is said to be more than a hundred years old. But it doesn’t really look like a centennarian at all. It looks like it was just built in the 70’s or 80’s. There is really nothing of historical or heritag importance here. This was just just included in our itinerary because of its proximity to a good restaurant where we can eat our lunch overlooking the Laguna de Bay. What really pisses me off are the elctrical wires in fornt of the church that looks like a clothesline.

The church looks kinda old but it is cute. What is Visita Iglesia anyway?
Actually the foundations of the church are really old but I guess it fell victim to modernization. As for heritage or historical value, the church is actually home to a peculiar image of the Virgin Mary called Our Lady of the Buena Aguas, or Good Waters I think, that was brought by friars ages ago, when they saw the numerous springs in the area. This historical fact is always overshadowed by the town’s popular resorts and springs.
