Pakil Church

Posted on May 21, 2007

The church of Pakil was our second destination after we left Morong in the province of Rizal. Pakil is already part of Laguna. It is known for its sweet lazones, wooden handicrafts and its centuries-old church of San Pedro de Alcantara.

The church in Pakil was built according to the deisgn plans set by the Fransican missionaries. This baroque church has an impressive altars and retablo.

Although this church is dedicated in honor of its patron saint San Pedro de Alcantara, this is actually more known as the home of the Nuestra Señora de los Dolores or the Virgen de Turumba. The feast of Turumba is said to be the longest feast in the Philippine Catholic calendar.
