Have you noticed that little image on the top portion of my sidebar?
This blogger has been to 29 of the 81 provinces in the Philippines
Hahaha and that 29 will soon become 30. I’m actually looking forward to my 30th province. And if no out-of-the-blue plans will get in, the 30th province will be… LEYTE!!! Yep folks, I have actually scheduled this trip as early as November 2006. But I never knew that Tacloban, Leyte will be my 30th province. I’m leaving for Tacloban on June 29, 5AM for the Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival 2007.
Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival is actually a twin event organized by both the City of Tacloban and the Province of Leyte. Pintados Festival is held every June 29th in honor of the Santo Niño de Tacloban. Pintados was actually a term given by the Spaniards to the people of Tacloban. Pintados refers to the tatooed men and women in the island.
The Kasadyaan Festival, on the other hand, is a competition of festivals from all over the provinces of Leyte and Samar. This is usually held every June 30th. On the day after the Pintados.
Last year’s Kasadyaan Festival champion (and Alilwan Fiesta 2nd runner up) is the Alikaraw Festival of Hilongos, Leyte. Kasadyaan Festival 1st runner up (and 2006 Sinulog Festival 5th Placer) is the Padul-ong Festival of Boronggan, Samar. The 2nd runner up is the Lingganay Festival of Alang-alang, Leyte.
I am very very excited to see Alikaraw perform once again, as they defend their title in this contest. I am also looking forward to see the Padul-ong Festival. I saw them this January in Sinulog, and probably the concept that they will present this June, will be the same concept that they will showcase during the Sinulog 2008,if ever, they join join again.

congrats! ang dami mo nang narating…. i still have to count mine. Kasama ba ang stop overs on the 17-hour trip manila to leyte? hehe.
if we start counting how many islands we’ve been to out of rp’s 7107 islands, ibang istorya na yan!!! lol…
leyte will be my 30th. pero i have time, ill explore samar as well, and that would be my 31st.
im seeing up to 34 or 35 this year. aheheh
