Byahilo conquers the Dutch soil
Posted on June 1, 2007
Last January, I saw myself realizing one of my greatest dreams: to witness the grandest Philippine festival with my own two eyes. I prayed hard for it. A week before the Grand Parade, I was very very nervous in the office, because my 10-day vacation leave might not be approved. (Hell, it was filed February 2006!)
I prayed so hard to the Santo Niño to let me go to Cebu to witness the Sinulog, but he gave me more than what I have asked for. After the Sinulog, a series of good fortunes came to me.
By mid-February, I was contacted by a publisher based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. They asked me if they can publilsh the photos I took and a photo of me at the parade. They also asked permission to have this blog post be reprinted in a magazine. They also reprinted my personal profile I posted here. Of course, I agreed.
Then a few more weeks laters, I was surprised to see a mailman delivering me a copy of the magazine sent from Amsterdam. This is not the first time that my photos have seen print, but I was just so ecstatic because this is the first time that my photos were published abroad. You see, the Santo Niño was really really mabait to me. I simply asked him to let me go to Cebu to witness the event, but what did he do? He just allowed my photos to conquer the Land of Windmills and Tulips. Dank u Nederland!
