I’ve got Mail, again!

Posted by on June 14, 2007

I was recently surprised to see Mr. Postman ringing our doorbell. He delivered a parcel supposedly coming from….mmmm… FRANCE?!!

UNESCO World Heritage Map

I was a bit surprised about the package making its way to my doorstep. The label reads it came from the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris France. I immediately opened the parcel, and voila! A UNESCO World Heritage Map! Now I remember. I once signed up in the UNESCO website. That’s why they sent me this cool world map!

The map was made in partnership with HP and National Geographic. The UNESCO World Heritage Map, which has the typical look of a map done by the National Geographic cartographers, features some breathtaking panorama of the World Heritage Sites. They also have a complete list of all the World Heritage sites, including those who are in the list of endangered sites. The Rice Terraces of the Cordilleras, in the Philippines is included in the list of the Endangered Sites. The UNESCO and the Philippine government is making concerted efforts to preserve this cultural treasure in Northern Luzon.
