Are we going to make it to the list?

The UNESCO World Heritage Committee is currently in Christchurch, New Zealand for the 31st session of the World Heritage Committee. Part of their activities will be naming new sites of outstanding cultural value and inscribing them as part of the UNESCO World Heritage List. Currently there are 45 candidates for the inscription. But do you know that one of the candidates is from the Philippines?
Fellow travel blogger, Ivan Henares has confirmed to me that the majestic place we all call Batanes has once again attempted to be part of the list after its failure in 2005.
So what will be its effect once it has been inscribed in The List?
Definitely tourist arrivals will increase. Batanes will be getting more exposure it deserves. Concerted efforts from the governments and the private sector will have to be done in order to protect and preserve this paradise in the northern Philippines. Surely, we all want our great grandchildren to see Batanes in its golden glory.
We just hope and pray that, hopefully this time around, Batanes will make it as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The announcement will be made not later than July 2, the last of the the World Heritage Committee Meeting
