Choco-late de Batirol
Posted on July 8, 2007
One of the few surprises I had at Serendra was the Choco-late de Batirol. A small food joint offering what they promised as authentic Baguio Chocolate. They chocolate drinks are different. It doesn’t even taste like your typical choco drink in tetra packs. Theirs is very delicious and heavy.
This rich chocolate served is served using pounded chocolate rolls (tablea) and peanuts. You can even have it hot or cold. And in this modern day and age, their sweet concoctions have now mutated into other varieties. Aside from the Baguio Classic, you can also have your chocolate laced with other flavors like Kahlua, strawberry, or orange. Because it was just searing hot last week, I order Baguio Classic Chocolate freezing cold. While the staff is preparing my drink, I was already imagining a cup of cold chocolate right in front of me. But no, my chocolate was served in a tall glass topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with chocolate bits. It was heavenly. When I had my first sip, I could instantly feel the uneven texture of the chocolate.
Chocolate de Batirol doesn’t only serve chocolate drinks, they also serve a wide variety of foods for the hungry souls making rounds in Serendra. If you have a small group party, you can also reserve the place for yourself. The place is perfect for small group meetings.
