18th Philippine Travel Mart

I was at the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) of the upcoming Philippine Travel Mart which will open on September 7-9, 2007 at the Megatrade Halls of Megamall in Mandaluyong City. The bigwigs of the organizing group, Philippine Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA) was there. The chief executives of various airlines, hotels, and shipping companies were all there too. As usual, representatives from the various traditional media were there too to cover the event. And, for the 2nd time around, I was the only travel blogger present. And I was kinda uneasy explaining to them what a travel blogger does. For many of them blogging is new. They even had raffle earlier giving out free airline tickets to the members of the press. Too bad, I didn’t win.

Anyway, the highlight of the event was the presentation of what’s going to happen next week. We were handed out press kits and the 18th Philippine Travel Mart looks exciting. The event promises to be the biggest Travel Mart ever. Drop down prices from airlines, hotel reservations and tour packages will be offered.

So what does a Juan dela Cruz can expect?

An important announcement

I just thought my cellphone’s battery got busted. So I bought a new batt, which costs me 200 pesos. I didnt know that what I encounter with my mobile was just a tip of the iceberg. A damaged battery is just one of the problem. Oh well, to sum it all my phone memory was reformatted and EVERYTHING stored in it got wiped out. So basically my phone book now is empty except for a very few I stored in my SIM card. Now, please, if you need to SMS me, kindly identify yourself as I normally do not respond to messages coming from nowhere. You guys know my number.

Thanks!

2 More Press Events!

I got a couple of press conference invites again. One will be this coming Thursday morning after my Wednesday night work shift. And another on Thursday 6PM.

In short, I’ll have no sleep again. But I don’t complain. In fact, I love press events. It gives me a whole lot of oppurtunity to meet new people and expand my blogging network. It even gives me a preview of upcoming events which I would really love to go to. It’s also one of the ways I can promote my blog offline.

My presscon this coming thursday morning is about the upcoming Philippine Travel Mart which will be held on September 7-9 at the Megatrade Hall. Expect drop down prices for airline tickets, as well as for package tours! More details about this event will be posted after the presscon.

With all these press conferences and launches, I realize that many PR agencies and advertising companies now consider the power of blogging. Many companies now invite bloggers to blog about their new products, new store branches, new promos, new gadgets, and a whole lot more! They (the companies) no longer just rely on the power of the traditional media, which are the print TV and radio. Many press conferences now includes bloggers from various niches. Some are travel bloggers, some are techbloggers, while others entertainment bloggers.
