Dinagyang Festival voted anew as the Top Philippine Tourism Event

For two straight years, the Dinagyang Festival of Iloilo City, Philippines has won the the recognition as the Philippines’ Top Tourism Event. The awarding ceremony was held during the 8th national convention of the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines held in Naga City.
The Dinagyang Festival is held every fourth Sunday of January in Iloilo City. The event is a celebration of thanksgiving to the Santo Niño. This is jointly organized by the local city government of Iloilo and the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation.

Receiving the 1st runner-up award is the Masskara Festival of Bacolod City. Held annually on the weekend nearest October 19, This festival celebrates life over tragedy. Masskara is also hailed as one of the Philippines most colorful festival.

The 2nd runner up award as the Top Tourism Event went to the Paraw Regatta of Iloilo City. The Paraw is an old-fashioned sailboat used by the Ilonggo people since time immemorial as a mode of transportation. This wind driven boat is also used by thr many to catch fish. The Iloilo Paraw Regatta is also considered as the oldest sailboat racing competition in the Southeast Asian Region. What made these paraws stand out is its sails. During the annual competition, theirs sails become an art canvass. beautifully painted with scenes depending on the prescrbed theme.

no offence meant against Iloilo, what was their criteria in choosing these two festivals? Was international popularity, regional participation, and attendance of people watching included? Im not biased, I do believe it is the Sinulog festival who deserves this award hands down.
objectivity was the criteria.it is quality that matters.in terms of popularity dinagyang has already a name.all criteria were considered that’s why dinagyang won the title as the best tourism event.to be straigth we leave it to the wisdom of the judges.they are principled and persons of integrity.
so festivities wise Dinagyang is more popular than Sinulog? What do you mean by quality? Dont you think that Sinulog wont be a famous as it is right now if the festival is not quality?
take it objectively.the two festivals have their own uniqueness and style but one goal to honor the INFANT JESUS.ok..DINAGYANG happened to won the award and no other beat could beat the beats of DINAGYANG..

I just wanted emphasize also that Dinagyang is known of its creativity and innovations, not to mention the beats of the drum and the most extravagant and tantalilizing choreography and performance…
how about sinulog do they have this? wow?
sinulog has never ending wave dance.very predictable
I have been in the various festivals of the Philippines , i go to cebu also just to watch sinulog frequently because of their great promotion of sinulog, but if you will compare it to Dinagyang of Iloilo, Dinagyang is more attractive,lively,well choreo and very artistic,there is really an authentic quality of festival, Dinagyang Festival of Iloilo is really worth as the Best Festival of the Philippines.
