Happy Birthday Bacolod!
Posted on October 19, 2007
Today, October 19th marks the 69th birthday of my dearly beloved birthplace. The City of Smiles, Bacolod City.
And to make the birthday of our city more fun and enjoyable, the local city officials planned to include the Masskara Festival as part of a bigger celebration. As part of tradition, there was a huge street party in Bacolod last night. The stretch of Araneta street was closed and every intersection has a stage for performers to play. Every stage has its own musical genre.
Think of Fete dela Musique.
There’s a stage for rock, for RNB, for POP, for Latin music. Definitely there’s a stage for everyone to enjoy. And just before the clock strikes 12, there will be a countdown to be followed by huge fireworks and the traditional singing of Happy Birthday song.
Unfortunately, I am not currently in Bacolod to join the celebration. But I promised myself to be there next year as the ciy turns 70th.
