Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2008 Launched in Manila!

Last week, the Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2008 was launched in the Philippine’s largest shopping mall. Hundreds of mall-goers trooped to the North and South Wings of the Mall of Asia to witness the Tribu Atub-atub perform. Aside from the tribe performance, there was also a photo exhibit held at the North Wing featuring the photos of the various tribe in action. The Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation, headed by Mr. Ben Jimena even brought some of the costumes and headdresses of the Dinagyang 2007 tribe to let the people really feel what Dinagyang is all about.
Some Iloilo City local Officials, VIPS, and Foreign Dignitaries from the World Peace Festival were also present.
The Dinagyang Festival had a tight schedule of presentations here in Manila last week. After the November 9 presentation in Mall of Asia, they also danced in Greenhills on November 10. Pasig City was next on their itinerary on November 11. On November 12, they performed at the Global Peace Festival Parade in Quirino Grandstand.

DINAGYANG MADE ILOILO AS ONE OF THE TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN THE COUNTRY.THE EXPOSURE OF IT IN MAJOR CITIES SUCH AS MANILA IS AN INDICATION THAT PEOPLE FIND IT TO BE EXTRAORDINARY.IT’S A SAD THING TO NOTE IF EVER THIS REPORT IS TRUE THAT THEY WERE REJECTED TO PERFORM IN SINULOG THIS YEAR.HOPE TO HEAR AN EXPLANATION TO THIS.
