Bonok bonok returns to the Cebu Sinulog 2008!
Posted on December 20, 2007
I was recently sent an e-mail confirming the return of Surigao City’s Bonok Bonok Marajao Karajao Festival at the 2008 Cebu Sinulog Festival.
Bonok Bonok has been one of the perennial winners in the Queen City of the South’s biggest religious festival. It has been noted that Surigao’s festival, known to be one of the best in Mindanao, skipped the Sinulog festival for several years.

Tangub City’s Tribu Sinanduloy in Cebu Sinulog 2007
It is also interesting to note that the Kinaiyahan Festival of Dauin, Oriental Negros will also be seeing action at the Sinulog Festival 2008.
The city of Tangub in Misamis Occidental with its Tribu Sinanduloy will also be back to compete. The Tribu Sinanduloy is the defending in the Sinulog-Based Category of the festival. This time they will be attempting to finally claim the Grand Slam title by winning the Sinulog Based category for three years in a row.

Sinirangan Karasikas from Borongan Samar
Other groups that have already confirmed participation are the island of Panglao in Bohol, The Sinirangan Karasikas of Borongan Eastern Samar and the Yagyag Festival of Sibulan, Oriental Negros.
There is also news that the Alikaraw Festival of Hilongos Leyte will join the 2008 Sinulog Festival in Cebu. But this has still to be confirmed.
The Sinulog Festival Grand parade will be held on January 20, 2008 in Cebu City Philippines. Check the FULL SCHEDULE here
