‘This the time for everyone to be Merry…

I found this holiday greetings from Ivan Henares’ blog last year. Now it’s my turn to spread the holiday cheers to everyone.

Merry Christmas!

To each and every Filipino who has been with me in this journey, here’s my holiday greeting to all of you in various Philippine Dialects:

The half-buried Church of Bacolor

One of the 2 churches that has been in my Pampanga tour wish list is the Church of Nuestra Señora del Santissimo Rosario or more popularly known as the Bacolor Church. The church of Bacolor and the ones in Betis are two of the oldest churches in the province of Pampanga.

Bacolor Pampanga Philippines Church

The Bacolor Church just like its counterpart in Betis, was built using the Baroque Architecture. It is said that the Bacolor Church is one of Pampanga’s largest churches. But when Mount Pinatubo erupted in the 1991, the church was half buried in mudflow or lahar.

After visiting the Betis Church last week, I was then asked by my friends where to go next. READ: We had an itinerary at that time but we scrapped it at the last minute.

So I then asked some of the locals about the usual livelihood of the people in Betis and where do tourists often go after visiting church.

Bonok bonok returns to the Cebu Sinulog 2008!

I was recently sent an e-mail confirming the return of Surigao City’s Bonok Bonok Marajao Karajao Festival at the 2008 Cebu Sinulog Festival.

Bonok Bonok has been one of the perennial winners in the Queen City of the South’s biggest religious festival. It has been noted that Surigao’s festival, known to be one of the best in Mindanao, skipped the Sinulog festival for several years.
