City of San Fernando Heritage Houses series
Posted on January 3, 2008
In this series, I will be featuring the old, yet glorious and still classy houses found along Consunji Street in San Fernando, Pampanga. Just like the cities of Vigan in Ilocos Sur and Silay in Negros Occidental, The City of San Fernando is also host to a good number of old houses full of historical significance. Special thanks to Wyatt Belmote for joining us in our short trip to San Fernando, Pampanga.
The First house that we checked out is the SANTOS - HIZON HOUSE. The house was done in a typical Americal period archiutecture.
Text taken from the plaque placed at the gates of the house:
Built at the turn of the century by the couple Teodoro Santos and Africa Ventura. Purchased by Maria Hizon, a nurse of the Pampanga Chapter of the Philippine Red Cross during the Philippine Revolution. Was inherited by her brother Augusto Hizon and is currently owned by his sisters.
This ancestral house, exemplifying the architecture prevalent during the American Colonial period, is an important heritage edifice of the city.
