Blog Ethics and Libel Law Discussion

Last February 16, 2008, I attended the Blog Ethics and Libel Law Roundtable Talk with Atty. Butch Dado as the resource speaker. The talk was organized by Blog and Soul Movement. It was held at the cozy Kape Isla in Serendra, Bonifacio Global City Taguig Philippines.
It was a good learning experience for me hearing the words of Sir Butch. The talk can actually serve as an armor for us bloggers. Now that almost anybody can just slap anyone with a piece of libel suit. As bloggers, it is important to know our basic rights and our responsibilities. At least now, we know what to do if we get slapped with libel. And now I know that neither I nor my webhost, can be sued for libel if another person has made an offensive or libellous comment in my blog.
The second round of Bloggers Talk will be about Creative Non-Fiction Writing. I am not sure though if I will attend this one. This kind of writing is not my cup of tea. The discussion will be spearheaded by Mr. Butch Dalisay, a Palanca Hall of Fame Awardee.

This is very informative. I heard about Abe’s case before and knowing this is a bit relieving.
