Chef D’Angelo Greenbelt Makati: Customer Service at its worst

Posted on March 11, 2008

Last Friday my office colleagues and I (six of us) attended a seminar workshop somewhere here in Makati. For our lunch, we decided to have it in Chef D’Angelo in Greenbelt. . I really don’t have any issues with Chef D’Angelo because I have already tried their menu countless of times. I love their pasta and their chicken. No questions about that. I have tried the Chef D’Angelo branches in Robinson’s Ermita, Robinson’s Galleria, Glorietta, and SM Mall of Asia. No problem with the food nor the service, whatsoever.

But when we (the six of us) our lunch in Chef D’Angelo last Friday, I was just appalled at their customer service (or the lack of it). Knowing that their place is strategically placed in a high traffic area and it was lunch time, it is normal for their branch to be flooded with the Makati yuppies. What really irked me is that we were served with our foods with out any utensils at all.

We have to call their attention several times (more than twice) for the utensils. Everybody seems to be in panic. Then after a long period of wait, we were just given plastic spoons and fork. It is not even in pair. The spoon is transparent while the fork is made of white plastic. Where in the hell did their metal fork and knife go?!

So we asked them for a metal fork and knife. We deserve to be treated fairly just like their other patrons. Their staff apologized and informed us that they ran out of the metal utensils.

What?! You are not prepared to have an extra number of fork and knife with all the number of people coming in and out of your restaurant everyday? It was pathetic. Really, really pathetic.

As usual, I don’t have any problem with the food itself. I just hope that Chef D’Angelo Greenbelt should add more metal utensils, and improve their customer service. In the restaurant business, customer service is always a top priority. You should always remember that it is easier and cheaper to maintain an existing an customer rather than campaign to get new customers.

I seldom eat in the restaurants except when I go out to buy something in Manila. You are right, you deserved to be treated well. We usually go to restaurants because we want to be treated well and be able to eat “like a king”. You should have call the manager and filed a report.

You have a great blog. Keep up the good work

Obviously, Chef d’Angelo didn’t prepare to give good service, not even excellent.

I’ll share your experience ihn my blog, too, so that we spread the word and people learn. :)

what is it with chef d’ angelo and bad customer service, we had a bad experience in their sm san lazaro branch, the staff are bastos and seems to be in a hurry to get rid of customers. tsk…tsk…

I have to agree with Maggie. Their staff are bastos, not just in SM Lazaro branch but in Glorietta (before the Glorietta 2 explosion, that is) as well.

One time I asked for a glass of water from the waiter after I finished my meal. He muttered something sarcastic under his breath and then when he came back with the glass of water, he put it on my table na padabog. Hindi ko na nga ininom. Baka dinuraan pa niya yon no.
