BYAHILO’s Visita Iglesia for the Holy Week Season: Basilica Minore del San Sebastian

Posted on March 18, 2008

The Basilica Minore del San Sebastian or, more popularly known as the San Sebastian Church, is the seat of the Parish of San Sebastian and the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. It is a fine example of the revival of Gothic architecture in the Philippines. It prides itself as the first and only all-steel basilica in Asia. The church is under the care of The Order of the Augustinian Recollects and is located at Legarda Street, Quiapo, Manila. WHY I PICKED THIS CHURCH:

San Agustin Church

One of the reasons why i included the San Sebastian Church in my Visita Iglesia is its outstanding architectural design. I just simply love its Gothic architecture. Add to the fact that it is the first and only all-steel church in Asia. Rust are now starting to appear in some sections of the church, so it may be a good idea to pay a visit now, before its too late.
