Aliwan Fiesta 2008 board of judges and Criteria for judging

Manila will once again be the center of culture and the arts as Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC) in cooperation with the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) the local governments of Pasay and Manila proudly brings to you the 2008 Aliwan Fiesta Streetdance competition.

MBC head Mr. Jun Nicdao said that as early as January 2008, the organizers have already reached the maximum number of festivals enlisted for the May 1-3 affair. The Aliwan Festival Grand Streetdance parade will start at 4PM from Quirno Grandstand down to the Aliw Theater.

This year the Aliwan festival 2008 will showcase 24 festivals from as far as Angadanan, Isabela in the north to Lamitan Basilan in the South See list of Aliwan Fiesta participants.

Aliwan 2008 will also feature a record number of over 20 floats for the Aliwan Float competition, and 24 festival queens will vie for the “Reyna ng Aliwan” title.

The grand prize winner of the 6th Aliwan Fiesta streetdance competition will receive a whooping 1 Million Pesos and the bragging rights as the Philippines’ best festival.

Second Place winner will get five hundred thousand pesos and third place winner will pocket two hundred fifty thousand pesos. Fourth to tenth place winners will each get fifty thousand pesos each.

The Reyna ng Aliwan beauty pageant winner will be taking home one hundred thousand pesos cash prize and the runner up will get fifty thousand pesos.

This year’s Aliwan Fiesta 2008 streetdance competition board of judges is composed of the following: Chris Millado, Josie Guillen, Nestor Jardin, Ferdinand Jose, Dr. Larry Gabao, Steve Villaruz, and Douglas Nieras. The chair of the boad of judges is the Philippine’s premier ballerina Lisa Macuja – Elizalde.

The Aliwan Festival 2008 Streetdance competition Criteria for judging are: Choreography 30%, Performance 30%, Timing and Rhythm 30%, and Costume 10%.

MBC head Mr. Jun Nicdao also added that this years contest results will be tabulated by an independent auditing firm Carlos Valdez & Co.

    Do you know the schedule for this fiesta? I mean what is the time (not the date) it started, whether 8AM or 3 PM or else? Thanks for your help.

    That’s what you call a real winning streak, ILOILO’s real winning streak. If all of Iloilo’s Festivals will join Aliwan, i bet Iloilo will dominate the winner’s list. Beat that!
