BYAHILO’s journey to the Panaad sa Negros Festival 2008

It was the main reson why I went to Bacolod City. As early as February, I have already blocked off my calendar just for this event. The annual celebration of the Panaad sa Negros 2008.

Panaad sa Negros

Panaad Sa Negros, or Simply called the Panaad Festival is an annual gathering of all the towns and cities of Negros Occidental in the provincial capital Bacolod City. The event is held inside the Panaad Park and Stadium that was built in 1998. During the week-long celebration, each and every towns best produce are sold here at a much cheaper price. Their respective tourism units have set up booth for inquiries regarding the various tourist spots in their locality.

During the opening ceremonies all the towns and cities festivals gathered for the annual Panaad Festival of Festivals competition. And I was supposed to be there to witness this grand colorful event. Unfortunately, heavy rains forced my to make aquick stop to Robinson’s Place Bacolod coming from Silay City. News articles the following day reported that the Tigkalalag Festival of Isabela won the Grand Prize again.

I was able to enter the gates of the Panaad Park at around 7PM already and the Festivals competition has just ended. Nevertheless, we still had so much fun strolling around the park, checking out the best products from each towns and cities of Negros Occidental.

The Panaad sa Negros 2008 festival will run through May 3, 2008.
