Coron Palawan adventure: Banol Beach

Posted on June 16, 2008

Early Sunday morning last week Gail, Marc, Ferdz, Nina and I explored much of Coron Palawan by island hopping. The activity is set to last until late in the afternoon. And one of the areas we went to is known as the Banol Beach.

I was just held breathless the very moment I saw the place. I was so beautiful. There are several huts built for the excursionists for picnic lunch. The beach is not really that long, compared to the 4-kilometer stretch of white sand beach of Boracay.

The beach is short but is very clean. Gigantic limestone cliffs stand on both sides as if guarding the picturesque beach. When we arrived at the area, we were the only tourists who were there. So it was really exciting to feel that the whole Banol Beach is all for ourselves!

There are areas designated for cooking. For our delicious lunch, our boatmen/guide grilled a large Lapu-lapu, several pieces of fresh fished and shrimp.

Entrace to Banol Beach is 100 Pesos per person. Banol Beach is part of the ancestral lands claimed by the Tagbanua Tribe of Palawan.

on the first day you can tour the Coron town, explore its market, hike mt. tapyas and soak at the makinit hot spring at night.

on the second day do the island hopping tour. there are a lot of boats for hire at the market area.

thirda day will be your free day for pasalubong shopping.

We will be going to coron this coming feb 24-27. we had our reservation at a pension/lodging house which is owned by the Te family (courtesy of SJ) They have air conditioned rooms good for 3 persons that has its own CR and it only costs Php 600 per night. They also have a family room that can hold up to 9 persons.

You can contact Sheldon Te (aka Donytes) and he can assist you from your airport ransfers, island hopping banca arrangements, up to scuba diving lesson arrangements, etc. His contact number is
    0919 248 52 51

I hope this would help. Have a safe trip! enjoy!
