Typhoon Frank ravages the Philippines. Iloilo needs your help

Posted on June 25, 2008

Last weekend the sixth typhoon to enter the Philippine area of responsibility has ravaged most of Panay Island, some areas of Negros Occidental, Leyte, and left several towns and cities flooded.

Typhoon Frank (International Name: Fengshen) claimed hundreds of lives, destroyed hundreds or even thousands of homes destroyed, and leaving a multitude of people with nothing to eat and nowhere to stay. One of the most damaged areas in the Philippines is the province of Iloilo. Until now, electricity has not yet been restored. Potable water is very very limited. And the food is scarce.

iloiloneed your help, typhoon Frank

The very beautiful and charming Iloilo that I get used to is very different from the Iloilo after it has been damaged by the latest Philippine typhoon. Trees have fallen and blocked roads. Bridges have been damaged. Villages have been flooded. Many residents were left homeless, and properties damaged.

And just today, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas relayed a message through a friend, and asked us to help them stand up once again. I am asking for your support to please help our fellow Filipinos especially those in Iloilo. Small deeds done by the many goes a long, long way.

You can share your old (but still usable) clothes, canned goods, rice, etc. Many non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are receiving donations in cash and in kind for the Typhoon Frank victims.

If you do not know any NGO who does relief operations for the Typhoon victims in Iloilo, you may also bring your donations to the ABS CBN Foundation SM Foundation or the Task Force Noah of Katoliko.org

Alternatively, you can also course your donations through the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC). Bank deposits can be made at the following accounts of Philippine
National Red Cross:

Metrobank, Port Area Branch
Peso account number: 151-3-041-63122-8
Dollar account number: 151-2-151-00218-2
Swift Code: MBTC PH MM

Bank of the Philippine Islands, Port Area Branch
Peso account number: 4991-0010-99
Type of Account: Current

Bank of the Philippine Islands, UN Branch
Dollar account number: 8114-0030-94
Type of Account: Savings
Swift Code: BOPI PH MM

You can also do an online donation through the Philippine National Red Cross website

For SMS or text donations, just text REDAMOUNT to 2899 (for Globe) or 4483 (Smart); For G-cash, text DONATEAMOUNT4-digit M-
PINREDCROSS to 2882.

Local in-kind donations could also be sent to the PNRC national headquarters in Manila or donation pickups may be arranged. For other inquiries, you can contact their hotline at 143 or +63 2 527 0000.

Let’s all do our share in helping our fellow Filipinos.

thankyou very much byahilo.com for all your support…

many ilonggos now are still suffering the wrath brought by Frank…rich or poor, many properties have been damaged…

an estimated amount worth 1 billion pesos including agricultural damages have been tallied in this unexpected tragedy. not to mention that almost 130 died in Iloilo city and province alone.

please pray for us here and the rest of the victims around the country. even those souls still trapped in the sulpicio line vessel

@Noemi. Will Philippine Red Cross be ok? I think SM Foundation is one with bringing the relief goods…Kararating pa lang nila ngayon sa Iloilo to bring the goods to the victims…

Actually, almost all of the Ilonggos were victims of mother nature’s wrath. Condolences to the people who lost their love ones. I hope we can recover sooner. Kita pa!

Paano ba magdonate sa accounts online. I tried to donate sa Metrobank account ng Red Cross pero I don’t know the process. I don’t know the benefeciary names and address that is required. Is there a local donations account?

    Hi, Enrico!

I’ll post the poster on my blog too so that we can spread the word around.

    Keep up the good work.
