Cebu readies for the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo Festival 2008

The Provincial Government of Cebu is all set to stage the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo. Now on its second year, the event is highlighted by festival performances, beauty pageant and trade fairs as part of the 439th founding anniversary of the Province of Cebu.
In an email sent to us, Elizabeth Francia, Chief of Staff of the Office of the Governor bared that various activies have been lined up for the said event.
A beauty pageant known as the Pasigarbo Festival queen will be held on Friday, August 7. The pageant will be held at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC).
Another highlight of the Pasigabro sa Sugbo is the trade fair where each and every town and city gets to showcase its signature products. This would definitely be a good opportunity for tourists to experience Cebu without having to hop from one town to another. Everything will just be in one place. From the famed dried mangoes to its delectable lechon (roasted pork) and the well-crafted guitars, as well as the sweet goods like otap and rosquillos.
And probably the biggest event of Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2008 is the performance of the festivals from various towns and cities. As of this writing there are already thirty, yup 30 festivals confirmed to join the grand Festival presentation.

hello ENRICO sorry for my late reply! I know that as of now there are 43 festivals from different towns and city across cebu, who confirmed their participation in PASIGARBO SA SUGBO FESTIVAL. I read this from a local newspaper here because some festivals are sending 2 contingents. Infact GOV. GWEN GARCIA is expecting that it will be at least 47 in a TV interview. Anyways i think whatever the exact number will be, im sure 30 or 40 or 50 is more than enough for the people to enjoy. I was even amazed who could PASIGARBO become so big when infact it only started last year. So we cant wait to see it! Hope u would have a nice stay here in cebu. chao!

Yeah it may be similar to some festivals like “panaad sa negros” & “pintados kasadyaan” but it is definitely BIGGER and definitely better! yeah it is confirmed that as of now there are 43 contingents joining “PASIGARBO FESTIVAL”. It’s so amusing that in 2 years time “PASIGARBO” has gone so big, even bigger compared to established festivals who has been there for so many years.. PASIGARBO might be a newbie, but definitely another FESTIVAL to look forward too… Im sure this FESTIVAL will produce another breed of CHAMPIONS. So don’t u dare to miss out! Another threat is coming on your way! hahaha.. See you there! chao!
the grand prize for this festival is 1 MILLION PESOS and all other participating contingents will have 100,00 cash subsidy from the PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT! This FESTIVAL has the BIGGEST CASH PRIZES amongst all other “ESTABLISHED FESTIVALS”. There will sourely no contingent come home as a looser! see you guys there! wee all the heavy preparations are on the go!
