Tacloban’s Santo Niño Shrine Museum and Heritage Center
Posted by on August 1, 2008
Even before I set my foot in Tacloban City, I already had a fixed itinerary. And part of my Tacloban itinerary is to tour the famous spots around Tacloban City and its neighboring towns. But because of unfortunate events, pans changed and I have to short cut my trip and was only able to visit two sites in Tacloban. One of them is the Santo Nino Shrine Museum and Heritage Center.
The Tacloban Santo Niño Shrine (not to be confused with the Santo Niño Cathedral) is just one of the 29 rest houses built by former Philippine President Ferdinand E. Marcos for his wife Imelda Romualdez Marcos.
Imelda Romualdez was a native of the province of Leyte where the city of Tacloban is located.
The Tacloban Santo Niño Shrine Mueseum and Heritage Center houses the miraculous image of the provinces patron saint, Señor Santo Niño. It also houses several priceless art pieces like paintings done by National Artist Fernando Amorsolo.
Notice the intricate latticework on the facade. It’s just so beautiful.

Thanks for posting this!
I’m planning to go and visit Tacloban by end of this year.
