Fresh fruits, breads of all kinds and sizes, fish, hams, sugar, sweets and everything nice. That’s what you can find in one of the more popular weekend markets in Manila, the Salcedo Saturday Market.

Kesong Puti

It’s not my first time here. In fact I have already blogged about this place 2 years ago. So what made me decide to come back to the Salcedo Market in Makati?

It’s all about the experience, really. It’s like having a market in your neighbourhood filled will greens, flowers, handicrafts, fresh fruits and vegetables, pastries, preserved meats, specially cooked ready-to-eat meals freshly squeezed sugarcane juice, exotic foods from Pampanga, sweet from my hometown (Bacolod City) and a whole lot more. And all in one place, and located right in the heart of Makati.

The market is quite among the employees working close to the area. I got to see several office employees taking their brunch at the market. The place is also filled with families who enjoy shopping as a bonding activity.

There is also a play are for kids who do not wish to make rounds at the selling area. There are swings and slides for them to enjoy. A dining area is also allocated for those who wish to buy food and consume right then and there.

So what are the stuffs that caught my fancy this time around? Everybody’s Caf? from Pampanga. Everybody’s Caf? is oftentimes associated with the exotic foods the Kapampangan is known for. And when I dropped by their booth, I wasn’t disappointed. There were Tapang Kalabaw, Rellenong palaka, deep fried kamaru, and other traditional kapampangan delights like tocino and longganisa.
