October 1 declared as Ramadan Eid’l Fitr Holiday

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has signed the Presidential Proclamation 1625, declaring October 1 as a regular holiday in the observance of the last day of the Muslim month of Ramadan known as Eidl’l Fitr or the Hari Raya Puasa.
“In order to bring the religious and cultural significance of Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness, it is necessary to declare Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, as a regular holiday throughout the country” the proclamation reads.
