Bacolod Masskara 2008 Winners

I just got back here in Manila from the recently concluded Masskara Festival. The event was a success. Thousands of tourists flocked to Bacolod city to witness the Philippines’ most colourful festival.
Last Friday, 22 groups competed during the Barangay Category of the Masskara Streetdance Competition. It was already night time when the contest was finished and the winners declared.

Grand Prize Winner: Barangay Bata
1st runner up: Barangay Mandalagan
2nd runner up: Barangay 23
Barangay Category 1st runner up, Brgy. 23
Special Awards:
Best in Mask – Barangay 30
Best in Costume – Barangay Mandalagan
Best in Choreography & Concept – Barangay Bata
During the Open Category of the Masskara Festival, 16 groups joined the contest. This includes the winners of the Schools Category, Barangay Category and several companies.

Their masks are more beautiful than the Venetian masks in souvenir shops in Rome. It’s quite pricey too so we didn’t buy.

Biliv ako sa mga Bacolodnön masinadyanön kada Masskara Festival. Masski wala man ako dira sa masskara malipay man ako gatulok lang sang inyo mga picture gani! Basiman dasontuig makakita ako masskara live!!! sigelang matipon kami inogflyte dason ngatuig . Regards nalang sa mga Bacolodnön
hello!!! kaye, you should have seen the performance of the competing groups, Brgy Mandalagan deserves to win the masskara open,
there performance was par excellence, it was a festival dance, so colorful and you will realy enjoy watching.
hello eric, nice meeting you in Bacolod, I hope na wag kang magsawa sa pag feature ng Masskara Festival, we place 2nd runner up, we will improve our performance next year..

yeah ryt kaye’…. something fishy talaga ang nangyari sa open category…. ang nanalo hindi deserving…. YAN LNG ANG MASASABi KO!!! ang pangit ng sayaw at ng costume …parang trapo lng sa bahay….
unlike villamonte pang world class nga talaga..tama rin na claang ipina palada lagi sa lbas ng pinas pra sumayaw… maganda nmn kac sumayaw at gaganda pa ng costume….
ka duitay sang picture karon haw?. tapos wala pa video pareho sang dinagyang last year, ma lantaw mo tanan nga contender. hay… nano man. daw wala nako gana mag pang hagad mag puli para masskara. may iban ka pa nga pics? naka sentro ang mga facilitator sa local nga advertising. nag salig kay gina dala sa international. sinulog kag dinagyang daw may kauyuhan kapa nga lantawon. download pa halos tanan nga contender.
villamonte is my choice to be the champ in open category.. their dance,costume and everything was so perfect… u will see that they give their best to it.. while the mandalagan their so boring..so lame. their costume is cheap, but i like their mask - infairness its really unique.. but their champ? i smell somthing wrong about it, for me its unfair judging… sorry..but,its just my opinion Mayor Bing
grabe pati c mayor bing gina dalahig nila sa ila katuntuhan eh! wala ta mahimu, choice na sng mga judges nga mandalagan ang madaog so dapat batunon ta nlng tni pra maglinong ang kalibutan.
GOD knows man kng may dinaya gid man nga natabo o wala..see yah in 2009…

well yah all of you its correct its because the brgy mandalagan is not deserving and there dance will not boring…i think their dances will compet in the la casteliana in the bailes de locis…coz the brgy villamonte was deserving to win in the open category and i know if they will compit in the aliwan they won…chears to the brgy villamonte coz i know they won in the people heart that see in their performances….
