DBP RORO Race Update: Team Sikatuna reclaims 1st place, Team Apo gets the boot!

Posted on November 12, 2008

After returning to Pilar, Sorsogon from Masbate City via the Montenegro Lines RORO ferry, the seven remaining teams in the “Ready-Set-RORO!” DBP Interisland Race 2008 hit the road once more for another leg of this exciting adventure race.

The provincial capitol of Pili, Camarines Sur was the next stop on the race route as the Camsur Watersports Complex (CWC) played host to Leg 6 of the six-day race.

With the establishment of the CWC, Camsur has easily become the mecca of watersports enthusiasts from around the globe, with its top of the line facilities for wakeboarding, wakeskating, and waterskiing.

For the Leg 6 of the competition, teams had to row a dragon boat across a lake before proceeding to the wakeboarding area, where they had to swim across to the pit stop in the center island.

The fourth team released at the start of the leg, Team Sikatuna, with friends Ian Caingat and Rasm Mendez and Viva Hot Babe Jen Rosendahl, surged ahead of the six other teams to the pit stop, closing in on their second victory in the competition after dominating in the first leg in Bohol.

“This challenge really required strength and speed,” reports Rasm. “We were fourth to finish with the dragonboat, we had to take care to keep the boat balanced. But then we caught up with the other teams in jogging to the wakeboarding area and swimming across the lake.” “We’re very happy with the turnout of this leg,” celebrity teammate Jen Rosendahl adds. “We want to maintain the top spot and we’re determined to win this race.”

Their game plan for the remaining legs? “Understanding the clue,” states Ian. “There are only two legs for us to run and we’re making sure we don’t make any crucial mistakes so we can qualify for the top 4, and finish in the Final 3.”

Meanwhile, Team Apo, composed of schoolmates Cams Lozano, Kyna Flores, and PBB grand winner Beatriz Saw, got eliminated today, despite a back-to-back victory in legs 2 and 3.

“Time was what we really needed, we were ten minutes behind from the first team, and it was difficult for us to catch up,” says Bea.

“We’re sad that we’re out of the race, but we’re happy to have made it this far, even though it’s not the fulfilment we wanted,” Kyna concludes. “Getting to know the other teams and experiencing so many things around the country has made joining this race so much worth it.”
