DBP RORO Race Update: Team Kanlaon is the DBP Ready Set RORO 2008 Champion!

After six days of fun-filled adventure in six provinces, then DBP Ready Set RORO 2008 Inter-Island Race has come to a close. The the final leg was a neck-to-neck battle. Out of the final four teams, the two leading groups were even riding on the same bus from Lucena City down to the DBP Main Office in Buendia Avenue, Makati City. But just like in any other contest, only one team emerges as the grand champion.

Team Kanlaon which is composed of twin brothers Jojo and Jedtz Tan together with Zaira dela Pe?a emerged as this year?s race champions. During the final leg, the teams were asked to match the souvenir items they have brought with them and identify it with the place where it has came from. After their task, they all climbed up to the top floor of the DBP building for their final task: to rappel and run towards the race mat.

Just before they could actually climb to the top, Team Mayon and Team Narra came at the same time, with hundreds of spectators cheering for them.

Team Narra which is composed of Will Nocom and Super Perez with celebrity partner Ryza Cenon finished second place. While the newlyweds Jenny and Nitoi Vilaflor with GMA 7 star Rainier Castillo of Team Mayon secured the third place.

Friends Rasm Mendez and Ian Caingat with Jen Rosendahl of Team Sikatuna placed fourth place on the race.

All in all, it was an afternoon of fun and excitement. It was an unpredictable game as all teams are very competitive and in high spirits.

Kudos to DBP for initiating this kind of event. Through this, the RORO system in the country gets promoted as an alternative transportation. It has also promoted several cities and provinces by making it as the race pit stops. I look forward to covering this event next year. And probably cver it from start to finish.
